1. Classification by roller
The roller structure includes smooth roller, groove roller and sheep foot roller. Smooth roller is the most widely used, mainly used for compaction of pavement surface. Mechanical or hydraulic transmission is adopted, which can concentrate on the compaction of protruding parts, with high compaction flatness, and is suitable for asphalt pavement compaction.
2. Classification by axle
There are single axle single wheel, double axle double wheel, double axle three wheel and three axle three wheel according to the wheel axle. Powered by internal combustion engine, mechanical transmission or hydraulic transmission is adopted. Generally, front wheel steering, good maneuverability, rear wheel drive. In order to improve steering and rolling performance, articulated steering structure and all wheel drive should be adopted. The front wheel frame is hinged with the frame to reduce the body swing caused by uneven road surface. The rear wheel is rigidly connected with the frame. Hydraulic control and steering control are adopted. The front and rear rollers are equipped with scrapers to remove the adhesive on the rollers. Water spraying system is also installed to spray water on the roller to prevent adhesion of asphalt mixture when compacting asphalt pavement.
